Presentations

Here are some of the presentations I have given at conferences over the years.

I’ve written a ‘nuts and bolts’ fundraising course. It takes 60 hours of study and is accredited by no-one. It comes in handy self-contained two hour sessions and so I can run freestanding sessions on specific issues such as project management, public speaking, values, volunteer management and so on.

The Porcupine Principle Talk – A short talk on some of the key points in the book "The Porcupine Principle", further information on the book can be found of the Porcupine Principle page.

Hit & Myth – a general introduction to some essential truths (and old wives tales) of fundraising.

Fundraising and PR - a troubled marriage.

Key Management Techniques or how to rob a bank using the principles of evolutionary psychology.

FCIH presentation – talk given at the national conference for Hospice Chairmen (not very PC I know, but I didn’t choose their title). A valedictory address on hospices and fundraising as I left St Luke’s Hospice two weeks later.

Fantasy Fundraising – talk given to so many groups there are fewer who haven’t heard it than who have. How my eleven favourite footballers all have essential and different aptitudes for fundraising.

Fundraising in an airbag culture – talk given to St Margaret’s Hospice in Taunton on cultural differences between fundraising and other hospice professions.
